Here are some social distancing ideas for some Austin fun. Some with an expiration date, so you better get on it!
With recent events driving our numbers up Covid-wise, well… our fun seems to have taken a dive along with our dive-bars and we’re left feeling a little stir crazy for some fun. Here’s our top three but scramble fast on our number one for fun, before it is gone because it is truly a once in a life-time! Grab your mask, let’s go!
Grab some binoculars, telescope, or camera. Find a high point like Mount Bonnell or the like and an open sky view toward the Big Dipper. Grab someone to cuddle with. After sunset, look for it in the skies until July “26th”. It won’t be back for another 6,800 years! Make it extra fun with a starlit summertime refreshing drink and chilled melon wedges.
Farmers Market Picnic
Find a farmers market. We especially like Mueller’s. They’re open on Saturday. Get there early. They have a good mix of fresh produce and cooked foods. Get both. Get some of the fresh squeezed strawberry lemonade! Or fresh brewed coffee! Yes, there are breakfast tacos! Now, you can not consume on the premises and they are strict on this. But bring a blanket because nearby is a beautiful pond with ducks, geese and baby chicks and many trees that offer up shade to have a picnic. It is a great way to start the day.
This one is inspired by AustinTexas.org and their Austin Murals Tour. But I like graffiti in general and Austin is full of it. Like Austin’s Railroad Bridge with the Packman on it. Make a day of it. More graffiti ideas from free-fun-in-Austin.com to get you started! Create a game of it. A scavenger hunt for graffiti. Take pictures. Create your own collection. What’s more, you’ll get to know more about Austin. Visit one of our newest installations, Black Artists Matter on East 11th if you haven’t already.
